In the realm of healthcare, awareness is often the first step towards prevention and early detection. On the 23rd of March, 2024, a significant milestone in health education was achieved with the collaboration of the ENT Team at MEDiCON Multispecialty Clinic, Gurugram and a team of Surgical Gastroenterologists from Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. The event, held at Richmond Park Society in Gurugram, marked the beginning of a crucial dialogue on two pressing health concerns: colorectal cancer and deafness.
Unveiling the Silent Threats: Colorectal Cancer and Deafness
Globally, colorectal cancer ranks amongst the most prevalent cancers, affecting millions each year. Despite its high prevalence, it often lurks unnoticed until it has progressed to an advanced stage, underscoring the importance of awareness of early screening and prevention. Similarly, deafness, though not always life-threatening, significantly impacts the quality of life of the affected individuals and possibly their near and dear ones. Deafness may become a barrier and a disability in everyday life functioning, reinforcing the importance of timely intervention to prevent and/or restore hearing.
